Motion Graphics Exercise Journal Week 1/28: Masking Footage

Seagulls, After Effects, 2018

This exercise was an exploration into how masking can add to the structural design of a video. One can effectively use masks to section and highlight portions of video, like how I used some static masking of the wheat footage to highlight the seagull in the center of the city footage. I also manually tracked the motion of the seagull to the left for the purpose of adding the mosaic effect to its movements. This illustrates how one can use moving masks to highlight portions of videos that are in motion.
